Highway Cycles to Close Bishop’s Stortford Branch
Hertford, Hertfordshire (December 14, 2024) – Highway Cycles has announced the closure of its Bishop’s Stortford branch, effective at the end of the year.
The store opened in August 2023 to serve the growing cycling community in the town and promote sustainable transportation.
While the shop has enjoyed success and built a loyal customer base, the challenging economic environment has made it difficult to sustain operations. Highway Cycles remains committed to supporting the local cycling community and will offer free collection and delivery for bike repairs, and free delivery on orders placed at the Hertford store.
The company is excited about the future of its Hertford location, with plans for expansion and new initiatives in the coming year.
Statement from Highway Cycles:
“We are deeply saddened to announce the closure of our Bishop’s Stortford branch. We opened the store with the goal of supporting the local cycling community and promoting sustainable transportation, and we are proud of the work we have done over the past year. Unfortunately due to the challenging economic climate that consumers find themselves in, the underdeveloped cycle infrastructure around Bishop’s Stortford, and the continued increase in overheads it is no longer financially viable to operate.
We are grateful to our loyal customers for their support and understanding during this difficult time. We will continue to serve them through our Hertford store and offer free collection and delivery for bike repairs and orders.
We believe that Bishop’s Stortford will have a bright future for cycling when the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) finally come to fruition. We may even consider reopening a branch in Bishop’s Stortford in the future if the right opportunity arises.“
