A Weekend of Tinker-ing

Firstly, I would say that the kids liked it even more than I did, if that’s possible. It perfectly transported my two children. They had a fantastic view, were secure with the perimeter bar, and were able to chat to me throughout our rides, so it was a great bonding experience for us.

The Riese Müller MultiTinker is a great commodity to any busy family looking to beat the school run congestion. Our wonderful customer, Linton, trialled the MultiTinker, and had some great innovations on family-led active travel.

Congestion is high around the Hertford area, and we put Linton, father, youth worker, and avid cyclist, to the test, using the MultiTinker to undertake his busy family duties.

Linton said: “Firstly, I would say that the kids liked it even more than I did, if that’s possible. It perfectly transported my two children. They had a fantastic view, were secure with the perimeter bar, and were able to chat to me throughout our rides, so it was a great bonding experience for us. Instead of hearing complaints about going out, the kids jumped to it, and got so excited to go out with their dad on the bike.”

Designed around a classy aesthetic, the e-cargo is compactable and adaptable to commuter needs, and the MultiTinker’s low centre of gravity and 20-inch wheels promises a stable and agile ride, ensuring precious cargo is kept safe.

“The weight of the MultiTinker is ideal, while being easy to turn. I was concerned, as I needed to lift it to get into my conservatory, but it was surprisingly light. The controls were really simple to use- with four different settings, which keep you at a constant speed, no matter what the gradient. The Enviolo 380 system ensure the gear changes weren’t stepped, and I could just focus on the ride. I also tried out the special cadence on hills, which made it so easy, when transporting two kids on the back at a sheer gradient. I have no doubt that the MultiTinker could negotiate the steepest, most potholed of roads.”

So, after being hailed the ultimate car replacement, did the MultiTinker live up to Linton’s expectations?

“Absolutely. It made what could have been 30 minutes sat in traffic, to a quick and pleasurable ride with my children. I found it so much more energising and sociable, talking to locals around Hertford, instead of being crammed in a car. I would love to use the MultiTinker on the school runs- around our local primary, parking is not an option, and I could easily be the fastest parent, with this wonderful e-cargo.”
