We’ve had a fantastic 2024, with some real milestones in promoting cycling Hertfordshire. Here are some of our top moments..

Firstly, a HUGE THANK YOU to all our incredible customers in 2024 for continuing to support what we believe is the best independent bike shop in Hertfordshire. Seeing those smiles as you ride away on your new bikes is the absolute best part of our job!
2024 has been a wild ride for the cycling industry. We’ve faced some serious challenges – crazy stock fluctuations, fierce competition from online giants, and a tough economic climate. But hey, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!

We kept our customers at the forefront of Highway Cycles.
During the year, we’ve hosted pop-up stands, events and security bike marking sessions for our loyal customers.
Our fully experienced staff have been onsite throughout the year, to ensure our community has the best advice, when it comes to cycling in all seasons. We have fitted kid’s helmets, repaired more bikes than we could count, and been privileged enough to help our customers at varying stages of their cycling journey.
We hosted our first wellbeing event.
We launched our first health and wellbeing event, with a variety of local vendors, with specialties including women’s transformational health, personal training, Reiki and supplements.
The evening saw a lot of faces- regular and new and gave visitors the chance to ask burning questions, and for our wellbeing vendors to showcase their products and network.
In 2025, we will be looking to do even more events in our Hertford store- so watch our social media pages.
We value all feedback from our customers, so do feel free to drop us a message if you have an event idea to run by us- we love to get involved as much as possible with our community.
We launched a number of amazing brands.
We have remained a dedicated bicycle and e-bike showroom, fully stocked with only the very most special, pioneering bike brands, and we have been lucky enough to have this year welcomed some big bike names to our store.
Specialized– With innovative designs and cutting-edge technology, Specialized bikes offer exceptional performance.
Cube – Known for its eye catching designs and value for money, Cube boast a wide range of bikes, from road to mountain bikes and everything in between.
Colnago – homemade in Italy, Colnago bikes are the epitome of technology, with a clip of timeless charm engrained into their designs.
Estarli – Hertfordshire-based manufacturer, Estarli, provide award-winning folding, full-size and cargo e-bikes.
And it’s not just bikes, some innovative clothing and technology brands have also dropped, including GoFluo, the wonderfully aesthetic women’s cyclewear and Wahoo trainers and computers, that make exploring roads even more fun, delivering smart navigation.
And we kept active travel at the heart of everything we do
We spoke to a number of influential leaders within Hertfordshire, including our new MP, Josh Dean, mayors around Hertfordshire, and even Sir George Young, who made an impassioned speech in the House of Commons almost 50 years ago, to ensure that active travel remains a high priority.
At Highway Cycles, we believe that everyone can make small changes to better our climate, and reduce the amount of congestion that we are seeing, particularly in Hertford town centre.
But, we also believe that changes also needs to come from the top, and we will continue to promote cycling to those with both local and national influence.
Next year, we will be continuing to work with leaders, to ensure they are prioritising funding for cycling infrastructure, and working with the local authorities to continue improving road design to prioritise safety for our community.
